The International Union for the Conservation of Nature recently issued a warning because the Mediterranean dumps 230,000 tons of plastic waste every year!

If no special action is taken, the amount of this waste will double by 2040.

Egypt, Italy, and Turkey are the three countries that throw the most waste into the Mediterranean.

One of the reasons for this is that the coastal areas of these three countries are very densely populated.

Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia, Herzegovina, and northern Macedonia dump the most plastic waste into the Mediterranean.
